Here is a list of things to do in Orleans when it isn't a beach day:

1. The French Cable Station Museum, Cove road and Rt. 28 (508) 240-1735

     View antique instruments used to transmit  news to Europe over 60 years ago. This 1890 building was the stateside landing point for the 3000 mile long cable that originated in Brittany, France.   Free admission but donations accepted.
 

2.  The Academy of Performing Arts Playhouse, 120 Main St. East Orleans (508) 255-3075

     Every day from June to September, a volunteer will guide you through the mill and explain its history and operation.  Free Admission.
